Cruiser Short Race

The RHSC Cruiser Short Race Series offers a varied programme of friendly and competitive racing from April through to October.

These shorter races are a great way to enjoy cruiser sailing, build experience and take part in the club’s active racing programme. Courses and conditions vary throughout the season, giving crews plenty of opportunities to develop their skills and enjoy racing with other club boats.

Interested in joining a crew?

Club members with less cruiser-racing experience are welcome to register their interest in joining a boat as crew. Please get in touch with David Preston, who coordinates the cruiser programme. David will share your interest with participating skippers and find out which boats are able to offer a place.

Each cruiser has its own WhatsApp group for organising sailing. Before a race, availability is usually coordinated through WhatsApp polls, helping members see which boats need crew and giving them the opportunity to sail on several different cruisers during the series.

Crew numbers vary by boat and conditions, but typically range from a minimum of three people to around six. Places depend on skipper availability, boat capacity and the conditions expected on the day.

To register your interest, contact David Preston through the club.
