Club Member Clive Marsh Featured in Practical Boat Owner

We’re delighted to share a recent article by Rye Harbour Sailing Club member Clive Marsh, published in Practical Boat Owner.

In “Cruising around Britain in a sea kayak”, Clive tells the story of Ian Hayward, who called at Rye Harbour Sailing Club during his solo, unsupported circumnavigation of mainland Britain by sea kayak.

Ian arrived at the club after setting off from Lowestoft, having already tackled the Thames Estuary on his journey around the British coastline. RHSC welcomed him to the club, providing a place to stay overnight and a much-needed shower before he continued his journey.

The article also highlights a brilliant piece of club history: Rye Harbour Sailing Club supported the first kayak circumnavigation of Britain and Ireland in 1986, continuing a long tradition of welcoming and supporting those taking on extraordinary journeys around our coast.
